Self Advocacy
Circle of Friends
Circle of Friends is a self-advocacy initiative of OPG, Inc. complete with our own governing body. We welcome any individual over the age of 17 to participate with the group (a staff member or parent is strongly encouraged to participate with the individual). Circle of Friends is a Chapter of Self-Advocates of Indiana, Inc., a non-profit organization of citizens who speak out and educate for equal rights, respect, and inclusion for all in the community.
Our mission is to enhance the lives of people with disabilities and grow from it, while getting involved in the community.
We learn skills in public speaking, group decision-making, problem-solving techniques, assertiveness, and voting practices along with other topics of interest. We participate in social activities such as movie nights, game nights, dances and putt-putt just to name a few. We also believe it is important to “pay it forward” and give back to the community, therefore, we volunteer once a month.
Circle of Friends meets every Thursday from 4 – 5:30 p.m. at various locations. Click here to see our schedule.
