In the Know - AWS, a public foundation based in Fort Wayne, has awarded $500 thousand in grant money to 18 non-profit organizations that benefit individuals with developmental, intellectual and physical disabilities in Northeast Indiana.
AWS Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Patti Hays, says that "the moneys we raise are targeting people with disabilities to live as independently as possible." This is the first of four grant cycles for the fiscal year.
The five initiatives of the Foundation include: housing, transportation, employment and education, social and recreation, and early diagnosis. Each quarter is open to all five initiatives, with grants for the second cycle due for September 15.
